Kathmandu, Jan 25: CPN-UML will make its official position on the latest government decisions public later Thursday organizing a press conference at the party’s central office in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu at four in the afternoon.
“Chairman KP Oli will announce the party’s position on the latest decisions of the government including appointments,” press coordinator of Oli Chetan Adhikari said.
UML has been saying that the government that has been rendered caretaker after the election should not make appointments and decisions that can have long-term impact.
The government on Wednesday announced to give elderly allowance to the citizens 65 years old or older, and an additional grant of Rs 100,000 to the victims of the 2015 earthquake. The prime minister in waiting has convened the press conference at a time when the government decision to lower the threshold for elderly allowance by five years has been widely criticized saying it will further strain the state coffers.
