Chitwan, Jan 25 (RSS): The protest programmes by students started some days ago demanding the move of the Agriculture and Forestry University in Rampur, Chitwan to spend the budget in purchasing lavish vehicles for its high ranking officials, has continued to affect the regular classes and administrative works.
The protestors have accused the university officials of spending budget in extravagant things, while it lacks educational materials, buildings for laboratory and the library is in a dilapidated condition.
As part of the protest spearheaded by Nepal Student Union, a political student wing affiliated to the Nepali Congress, the central office of the varsity has been padlocked.
The varsity has purchased a vehicle of TATA Company worth Rs 6.1 million for its Vice Chancellor, a vehicle of the same worth Rs 6.1 million for its registrar, and a vehicle of Hyundai Company worth Rs 5.1 million for chairman of the university service commission, the agitators claimed.
Likewise, four other vehicles have been purchased each for its two deans and director of its central office and research director.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Dr Ishwori Prasad Dhakal, said purchase of the vehicles was made as per need.
