Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba says he does not want to prolong his stay in power. He maintains that he is constitutionally  compelled to run the government till the new one is formed.

Deuba says the new government has not been formed yet as the House of Representatives has not got the full shape.

“Please prove your majority in the House and form the government; no one will stop you. Now, the House of Representatives has not got the full shape. Whom I can hand over the power to?” Deuba said while addressing a religious event in Godawari of Kailali today.

He said the government was working to facilitate the handover process; hence it already announced the date for National Assembly elections.

“Is just chanting the handover mantra enough without knowing constitutional restraints?” he asked.

In another context, the Prime Minister said province chiefs would be appointed and provincial capitals would be named within next three days.
